Schloss Taufers/Taufers Castle: the fully preserved dynasty castle is among the most beautiful in all of South Tyrol. Especially noteworthy are the interesting defense structures, the frescos in the castle chapel made by students of Friedrich Pacher, the prince’s private quarters, the dungeon and the armory.

Messner Mountain Museum:The fifth Reinhold Messner museum at Castle Bruneck is about to open its doors, it is dedicated entirely to the subject of mountain people. Exhibitions about everyday life in the mountain regions and its residents. (e.g. Sherpa, Indios, Tibeter, Walser, Mongolen, Hunza).

The Tesselberg Pasture: According to an old legend one may meet the “Tesselberger Männlein”, The Little Men of Tesselberg, who were once mining the region. The droopy-eyed gnomes are said to be connected to the Untersberg in Salzburg through mining shafts. The legendary red bearded emperor Barbarossa is said to come by when leading his men South to rebuild his kingdom.

The Gais Culture Path takes you from the brook’s spring (Bachscheide) to Neuhaus Castle. Along the path artists installed their works celebrating people who used to live in Gais. Among them are the Medieval poet Oswald von Wolkenstein, the American author Ezra Poud, his daughter Mary de Rachewitz and the artists Bacher.
